Considering what a blog might do for expressing ideas about movies, books, current political environment, and so on. Everything is in Substack it seems these days, and cutting through to an audience has to be challenging. I'm keeping my mini blogs alive for now, just in case.

Adding for 2024
I updated the prior post but because it doesn't indicate a new publish date, I wanted to be sure I committed here to a desire to do creative work in the coming year, if not this blog, then other ways to be engaged in the imaginative. Here's to the arts in their many forms of creation.

Any takers; update in 2024
This didn't get off the ground, as young son got busy with life and considered other things more of a high priority--which is totally understandable! In fact, I keep forgetting this is here, but when I see it, it's like one of those forgotten pieces of clothing stuck in the back of the closet that you remember how you enjoyed wearing it . . . . or not . . . . I too, am busy, so I'm not sure I'd have too much energy to work on this, but something about it makes me want to keep it. If anyone is interested in a point-counter-point review site, let me know!
2017: Still true a year later!
2019--Time passes despite our desire to slow time down.

2020--COVID. Enough said.
2024--Adding a new outlook and a new attitude to the same fears and trepidations but hoping the former drown out the latter and allow a renewal of perhaps this post, but, if not, newness in other phases of life that reinvigorate and provide new perspectives.

Hi this is Greg reviewing the new Star Wars movie.
Hah! No it's not. Just kidding. Hoped this would work--mother/son combo; Cincinnati/Houston locale; older/younger; good looking/good looking; . . . . Well, some things are the same!
Alas, however, he didn't take the bait. So this may go in another direction . . . . or not. For now, it's here before it is dismantled or re-visioned.

Pre-Production Stage
Before we actually post our reviews, a bit of an introduction. We are two reviewers, one a midwestern mama and the other a southwestern son. Mom is fifty-something, while son is twenty-something. Both of us are movie lovers, and there are some similarities in our taste, but a fair amount of differences that should be apparent as we present reviews of current movies, oldies but goodies, and just about anything else we might consider noteworthy.
A bit more about mom: As a kid, I loved watching movies at 4 p.m. after school in Chicago (not where I live now)--a lot of black and white movies from the 40's and 50's, including Jimmy Stewart movies and westerns; musicals; and low-tech sci-fi and horror. Still enjoy an eclectic range of movies, though I probably won't review movies like Saw or even any of the Halloweens except through whatever little openings there might be between my fingers when I cover my face with both hands.
And son?: nothing yet. And we are now ten years later. Would it still work for a 30-something year old and a 60-something year old? Stay tuned . . . .
